Abstract

This article investigates the structural characteristics of the systems of idioms used in the Pa-Co language, through three aspects: On the use of syllables, there are more idioms containing an even number of syllables than those with an odd number. On syntax, there exist three types of syntactic relationships among the elements of Pa-Co idioms. Among these, the symmetrical relationship appears most often. This type of relationship is mainly found in idioms with an even number of syllables. Less commonly used are the asymmetrical relationship and the subject-complement relationship. On the rhythmic structure, idioms that utilize rhythmic repetition are predominantly constructed using the symmetrical relationship between two clauses, with an even number of syllables.

These structural characteristics vivaciously prove that Pa-Co is a syllabic, isolating language
