Abstract

The need to fabricate sheet components with large thickness, size and
complex curvature in the shipbuilding, transportation, and defense industries is
increasing. Traditional methods such as stroke stamping, bending, forming, local
heating, manual forming on universal press equipment, then re-welding [1, 2,
3], so productivity as well as product quality is usually not high. In order to
improve the efficiency in shaping the sheet components with complex curvature,
technicians research and apply modern technologies that allow fast and precise
shaping such as pressing, rolling, continuous local shaping on digital control
devices. This article will present the research results and apply the numerical
simulation results to the experimental forming of the sample by rolling
technology. These research results will be applied in ship hull manufacturing
industry in shipyards in Vietnam.
