Abstract

In recent years, small-scale power plants such as rooftop solar power
systems or biogas power plants have been invested and developed enormously
in the world as well as in Vietnam. These energy sources are also called
distributed generations (DG) which are connected to the distribution grid and
decentralized controlled. Due to many supportive policies from the government,
the penetration level of DG in the distribution network is increasing rapidly while
the change in the distribution network configuration is still limited.
Consequently, the distribution network’s operation, especially the protection
system coordination, will face many difficulties. This paper focuses on the
coordination of recloser and fuse in the distribution network and determines the
DG’s maximum capacity to connect to the distribution grid. The study is
implemented on ETAP software; the results show that this research has practical
significance.
