Abstract

Nowaday, the welding process which creates a hard surface and improves
the abrasion resistance of the hammer mill is an urgent requirement.
Microstructure and microhardness are influence to abrasion resistance and
impact of the weld. There are factors determine to life time of hammer mill. In
this paper, the microstructure, hardness and abrasion resistance, which will be
analyzed and evaluated the surface quality of hammer mills in the bricks and
tiles. The PTA (Plasma Transferred Arc) welding process by Durmat 506 powder
alloys was used to surface of the hammer. Metallography method was used to
analyzed microstructure, microhardness and abrasion tested by theory and
experimental.
