STUDY THE CHANGE OF COLOUR SHADE ON WOOL FABRIC DURING THERMO SETTING TREATMENT

Abstract

Wool has advantage in use for luxury garments. Wool fibers are sensible to
colour characteristics which make wool fabric changing colour shade from initial
yarn after thermo setting treatment. In this study we investigated the change of
colour shade of plain fabric woven from 100% wool yarn after thermo setting
treatment. The changing on lightness/darkness, red/green axis and yellow/blue
axis has been investigated in regulating the temperature at 100, 130 and 150oC
and the humidity at 10, 15, 20 và 25%. The results showed that the wool fabric
has much changed colour shade in lightness/darkness axis at condition of 100oC
and 20% RH, in red/green axis at temperature of 130oC and humidity of 10%, in
yellow/blue axis at condition of 150oC and 30% RH. These results can be used by
manufacturer to obtain the suitable colour shade.
