Abstract

The tractor semi-trailer is often unstable and causes traffic accidents at the moment
of sudden braking. This paper presents the study results of the impact of braking
intensity on tractor semi-trailer’s braking efficiency on the dry roads at the speed of
80kph. The methods of structural separationand Newton-Euler equations were used
to establish the dynamic equations of a6x6tractorsemi-trailer’s braking. The MatlabSimulink software was used to survey the brake of a 6x6 tractorsemi-traileron the
dry roads with the grip coefficient xmax = 0.8. Results showed that when the
tractorsemi-trailer runs on the dry roads with the grip coefficient xmax = 0.8 at
V0 = 80kph then brakes with MB = 50%MBmax, the acceleration of brake will be
a1 = 4.0m/s2, braking distance S1 = 73.0m; if MB = 60%MBmax, then acceleration of
brake will be a2 = 4.8m/s2, braking distance S2 = 63.0m; if MB = 70%MBmax,
acceleration of brake is a3 = 5.6m/s2, braking distance S3 = 55.8m; if
MB= 80%MBmax, acceleration of brake is a4 = 6.2m/s2, braking distance S4 = 50.3m;
if MB = 90%MBmax, acceleration of brake is a5 = 6.3m/s2, braking distance
S5 = 48.6m; if MB = 100%MBmax, acceleration of brake is a6 = 6,4m/s2, braking
distance S6 = 47.6m.
