DEVELOPING A TOOL TO SIMULATE PHOTOVOLTAIC CHARACTERISTICS BASED ON 2-DIODE MODEL
In this research, we study on 2-diode model of a solar cell or a photovoltaics array and build a software tool to simulate characteristics of these devices. Solar cell and photovoltaics array are modeled as a 2-diode model at different values of factor. First, the characteristic of the current and voltage equations of solar cell and photovoltaics array are solved by the iterative Newton-Rapson algorithm. The iterative algorithm is developed into a simulation software tool based on MATLAB/GUI. This software tool allows to simulate the behavior of solar cells when the input parameters change and results in showing current-voltage (I-V) and power-voltage (P-V) characteristics). To prove correct, this software tool has been tested by simulating the characteristics of real solar cells (including Silicon, CIGS, CZTS solar cell); The results show that the simulated characteristics are consistent with the actual measurement characteristics. Through this software tool, users can easily simulate and investigate the characteristics of solar cells when the input conditions change.
