Challenges for agriculture in the context of international economic integration and some policy directions

Abstract

After more than 25 years of management mechanism reform, Vietnam's agriculture has achieved many achievements, bringing our country from food import into self-supporting food security and rice export ranked second. At the same time, the export of many other high value commodity agricultural products, bring significant amount of foreign currency to the country. The process of deep and deep integration has brought many opportunities for Vietnam, including agriculture. However, along with the opportunity, the challenges are putting pressure on the industry. The paper contributes to the identification of challenges and recommends some policy orientations to mitigate the pressure of the challenges and promote the sustainable development of the agricultural sector in the context of expanding international integration.
