Research on Micropropgagation of Aloe vera L. by In vitro Method
Abstract
Aloe Vera L. is medicinal as well as cosmetic plant. An experiment was conducted toinvestigate the possibility for rapid micropropagation of Aloe vera for raw material production.
Harvest of explants during spring season and sterilization in 0.1% HgCl2 for 7 minutes resulted in
high sterilization effect for in vitro initiation. MS medium added with 2.5 ppm BAP gave high
multiplication rate and high quality shoots. Adding 1.5 - 2.0 g/l of active charcoal in rooting medium
provided high rooting effect and good root quality. Transplanting in vitro Aloe vera plantlets into
sand yielded high survival rate and good plantlet growth. The cropping season had no visible
effect on transplanting in vitro Aloe vera.
