Pro-enviromental behavior of idling stop at District 5, Ho Chi Minh City

Abstract

In Vietnam, consciousness of “idling-stop” is limited. Based on the theory role of intentions for behavior, the research surveyed on 120 traffic participants at District 5, Ho Chi Minh City. The results showed that 76.7 % interviewed people knew the idling stop but there were only 40.8 % did it. The main reasons are the lack of knowledge (23.3 %), traffic participants’ habits, they don’t want to change their habits and startup vehicle method. Based on the result, the research also proposed solutions to eliminate the causes of obstructing pro-environmental behaviour idling stop.
