Factors affecting to Logistics Performance in Asia countries - Some proposals for Vietnam
Abstract
Logistics plays an important role in the exchange of goods, promoting economic development. However, the efficiency of logistics activities in Vietnam is not high, this can be demonstrated by the national logistics capacity index (also known as the Logistics Performance Index- LPI) of Vietnam which is lower than many countries in the region and the world. By using quantitative method in combination with analysis, synthesis, and comparison techniques, the authors have investigated and evaluated the factors affecting LPI with the secondary data of 33 Asian countries obtained from the World Bank in the period from 2007 to 2016. Research results have shown that the factors that affect LPI are political stability, GDP per capita, industry share in GDP, proximity to sea, and technology level. From then, the authors have given some recommendations to improve the efficiency of logistics activities in Vietnam.
