Research for determination of economic water leakers in urban water supply system: A case study of Gia Dinh water supply system, Ho Chi Minh city

Abstract

     This study used a method of determining the Economic Level of Leakage (ELL) in the urban water supply network applying to the Gia Dinh water supply system, Ho Chi Minh city. The results show that the ELL of the Gia Dinh water supply network is 9.655.,779 m3 equivalent to about 15% of the total water consumption in 2020. In addition, the amount of background water loss and economic unreported water loss of the Gia Dinh water supply network at 278.018 and 1.206.657 m3 /year, respectively. This calculation result is consistent with reality, and it is recommended to use this method for water supply companies as a basis for developing a water reduction plan in case of data sparsity.
