Abstract

    In recent decades, the phenomenon of sediment accumulation in Truong Giang river has been taking place seriously, adversely affecting the environment and activities of inland water navigation, agriculture and aquaculture. Many studies based on the analysis of remote sensing images have shown the process of sediment accumulation over time in the area of Truong Giang river as well as the relationship with the development of aquaculture area on both riversides. However, these studies mainly analyzed the anthropogenic factors leading to morphological changes, while the hydrodynamic regimes and sediment transport in Truong Giang river have not been clarified. In this paper, the authors analyzed the causes and mechanisms affecting the morphological evolution of Truong Giang river, using the open-source model namely EFDC to simulate the hydrodynamic regime in Truong Giang river system.
