Evaluating the power benefits on expansion of existing hydropower station, an application for A Vuong hydropower station

Abstract

    According to the power development plan, solar and wind power sources will account for an increasing proportion, while the proportion of hydropower sources is decreasing in the power source structure of the power system. In order to ensure the safe, stable and reliable operation of the power system, and at the same time promote the advantages and outstanding strengths of hydropower, the expansion of hydropower stations is currently one of the effective solutions. This article presents a scientific-based methodology to evaluate the benefits of expanding power stations and the possibilities of improving the operational efficiency for expanded power stations. Results from applying calculations for A Vuong Power station are an important basis in choosing the scale of expansion capacity.
