Design of LQR controller for active suspension on four wheel electric car model

Abstract

    The suspension connected the sprung mass and the unsprung mass, which provide vehicle stability and directional control during handling manoeuvres and to provide effective isolation from road disturbances. There is an opposition between ride comfort and safety. In this paper, we designed two controllers for active suspension on linear quarter electrical car model base on LQR control theory: the first one, controller only focus on improving comfort of electrical car; the second, controller only focus on enhancing safety of electrical car. The simulation results show that the active suspension system equipped LQR controller to improve the features of electric car when compared with passive suspension.
