Study hydraulic characteristics flow over My Lam – Phu Yen spillway and propose a modified project by Flow 3D model

Abstract

    This paper is dedicated to simulate the flow over spillway and stilling basin of My Lam - Phu Yen. A commercial hydrodynamic software Flow 3D based on Navier-Stokes equations is an efficient tool to estimate the complicated hydraulic characteristics of this flow. The good agreement between computed water elevation and observed data is shown. Besides, the detail hydraulic features in each segment is indicated such as: oblique wave on spillway chute; separated flow at curve and enlarge segment and the interaction between upstream and downstream flow. Propose a modified project of dissipated obstacle on stilling basin.
