Abstract

The water resource potential at the Dong Nai river upstream is relatively abundant. The annual rainfall volume is around 21.4 billions m3 ; the annual run-off is 11.7 billions m3 ; the annual underground water volume is 1.622 billions m3 . According to the calculating results of water demands for various water users such as irrgation, insdustry, domestic, and tourism in 2020, with respect to the designed frequency of P = 85% the gross annual water demand is 1.437 billions m3 (Nguyen Lap Dan, et al, 2015). Therefore, the water resource potential could meet requirements of the water users. However, the current extraction and uses of water sources are not efficient due to poor management. This causes the serious lack of water uses at the Dong Nai river upstream, especially in dry season. Hence, in order to enhance the efficiency of water uses, the efficient solutions for water extraction, use, and store in the Dong Nai river upstream need to be carried out to serve the socio-economic development as well as environmental protection in whole basin.
