Research and manufacturing of soil stress tranducers

Abstract

   Stress measurement in the soil environment plays an important role in construction design as wellas its safety assessment. Currently, stresses in the soil environment are measured by soil stresstranducers. Although there are numerous manufacturers of soil stress tranducer in the world, theprice is relatively high. In addition, most of these devices can only measure the total stress but cannot determine effective stress. This paper aims at presenting the processes of researching,manufacturing as well as calibrating the stress tranducers in the soil environment, which use straingauges to determine the values of effective and total stresses.
