Some characteristics of eutrophication in a shallow lake in Hanoi

Abstract

    Cu Chinh Lake is a small-sized, shallow lake in the inner city of Hanoi, facing many water quality problems, especially eutrophication. Understanding the characteristics of eutrophication in the lake is one of the necessary scientific basis for proposing solutions to water quality management and control.With that significance, this study gives some results on the assessment of eutrophication in Cu Chinh Lake during the period from April 2017 to March 2018.The results show that the lake is in a state of super-eutrofication and seasonal changes in which high levels in the rainy season. The most prominent floating plants in the lake are green algae and cyanobacteria in which some types such as Microcystis, Anabaena causing to bloom in water.
