Abstract

There exist several studies on flexible-concrete slope protection structures and cylinder rock filled toe protection since 1970s. These works contributed considerably to the development of dike and revetment technology in Vietnam, both theoretically and practically. In this paper, an overview of the state of the art in studying and applying these above two structural types above mentioned is given. Furthermore, research results on structural analyses of inter-locking blocks CM 5874 & toe structure type HWRU-2001 by using ABAQUS computational software are presented. The highly complicated nonlinearity contact problem between concrete blocks is taken account so that the computation can may describe the realistic behavior of the structures under wave loadings such as very dangerous storm. The results are well in line with recommendations from previous analytical and experimental studies regarding durability, stability and reduction of the required thickness. This constitutes important basis for further studies on optimal and reliable design to cope with future changes of the natural condition. Contents presented in this paper are useful information and reference for further researches, and mostly effective tool for structural design of coastal protection of Vietnamese seasidis
