Abstract

Climate change is considered a major challenge for mankind in the 21st century. Agriculture is known as one of the most vulnerable sectors to climate change. This study aims to assess the agricultural vulnerability to the impacts of climate change in Ha Tinh province. Agricultural vulnerability is assessed using the indicator system method combined with the spatial analysis capabilities of GIS. Four input indicators are also factors that directly affect agricultural production, including the Variation coefficient of precipitation; Heavy rain; Hot days; and the Risk of flash floods selected to build a map of agricultural vulnerability zoning. As a result, the level of agricultural vulnerability to climate change is quantified and classified into 4 classes: low risk, medium risk, high risk, and very high risk. The results show that Ha Tinh's agriculture is heavily affected by climate change. In, Huong Khe and some coastal districts such as Loc Ha, Thach Ha, and Cam Xuyen are the most affected districts by climate change.
