Abstract

This study aimed to identify the technical efficiency and factors affecting the efficiency in organic vegetable production. By using Cobb - Douglas production function with 67 organic vegetable producers in Thanh Xuan commune, Soc Son district, Ha Noi city, the present study indicated that the technical efficiencies of organic tomato and cabbage production were 62% and 89%, respectively. Factors affecting the technical efficiencies included sowing rate, planting area, organic fertilizer, plant protection cost and water., factors causing the technical inefficiencies were age, education and experience of farm households in organic farming. The expansione of farm size in combination with proper uses of inputs under organic technical procedures can improve organic vegetable yields.
