The Result of Land Consolidation in Nam Dinh Province

Abstract

    The implementation of land consolidation work has partially overcome the fragmentation of agricultural land taking place across the country. Nam Dịnh has three of nine districts successfully completed the land consolidation project, but the rest six districts still encountered some difficulties. The present research was conducted to identify solutions to effective land consolidation. The results showed that after the land consolidation completion, the number of parcels per households was reduced, resulting in high economic efficiency. However, land consolidation was facing with constraints, i.e. decreased production area and delayed grant of land use right certificate, and delayed improvement of infield traffic system and irrigation. To overcome the above-mentioned weaknesses, the local government should speed up the granting of land use right certificates, complete the traffic system and offer support policies for the households that receive less fertile plots of land.
