Abstract

A study was conducted to assess the effect of organic fertilizer and planting density and their interaction on physiological characteristics and yield of black sticky rice variety DH6. It was found that different levels of organic fertilizer did not affect plant height and growth duration. The fertilizer level-planting density interaction clearlyinfluence leaf area index (LAI) and dry matter accumulation at all growth stages. At eachorganic fertilizer level and plant density, there was no correlation between productivity and LAI at the maximum tillering stage, but close correlation between productivity and LAI at anthesis and ripening stages. At dough grain stage, planting density of 40 seedlings/m2 yielded highest dry matter accumulation in all organic fertilizer compost levels. Application of of 700 - 900 kg and 900kg organic fertilizer per spring and autumn crop, respectively, gave highest grain yields.
