Effects of Plant Growth Regulators and Ulture Conditions on Shoot Induction and Shoot Growth of Anoectochilus setaceus Blume In Vitro Culture
Abstract
The effects of plant growth regulators on in vitro shoot formation and shoot growth of Anoectochilus setaceus Blume were investigated. After 2 months of culture, shoots cultured on SH media containing 1.0 mg/l BA gave the highest shoot height, fresh and dry weight and number of stem nodes. SH media supplemeted with 1.0 mg/l BA and and 1.0 mg/l αNAA appeared to be the best medium for stem-node culturein terms of shoot and root growth. However, the shoots turned brown due to secretion of phenolic compounds. Liquid culture medium combined with and cotton wool plug were able to reduce the harmful effect of phenolic compound during shoot culture.
