RMB joins the basket of international currencies and its impact on the Vietnamese economy

Abstract

China's RMB has just been approved for the International Monetary Fund's currency basket, along with the US dollar, euro, Japanese yen and sterling, effective 1-10-2016. The paper provides an initial assessment of the possible impact on the Vietnamese economy.
