Managing risks from socio-economic fluctuations: Government policy interventions and the response of poor rural households
Abstract
Unusual changes in input-output prices and prices of essential consumer goods, lack of sow output, underemployment ... are major socio-economic changes in rural Vietnam. Against this backdrop, the risks to the poor and near-poor households become more serious. The article discusses the socio-economic risk management strategy for rural poor in two ways: government policy intervention and poor household responses.
