DESIGN A FASHION COLLECTION INSPIRED BY NATIONAL COSTUME FOR A FASHION BRAND

Abstract

Ethnic style in fashion is a field of fashion study that has so far not been given
adequate attention in Vietnam. As fashion continues to adapt to multicultural
conditions, both within each country and at a transnational level, ethnic styles offer
a particularly rich and varied field of study. Fashion inspired by ethnic dress around
the world and in Vietnam has undergone a long evolutionary process. In Vietnam,
after the reform of opening up in 1986, along with the return of the market economy,
ethnically inspired fashion has made a comeback, originating the improvement of
Vietnam's fashion market in the 1990s. This article summarizes the development of
ethnic fashion style, summarizing the characteristics of fashion design inspired by
national costumes around the world and in Vietnam. A number of fashion brands
have designs with ethnic styles; design a fashion collection inspired by national
costume for a Vietnamese fashion brand.
