THE EFFECT OF HEAT EXCHANGER PLATE RIDGELINE ANGLE ON PLATE COOLER OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY
Abstract
The efficacy of a plate cooler is substantially influenced by the heat exchange
capacity of the heat exchanger plate. The heat exchange capability of heat
exchanger plates is influenced by a variety of factors, including the material
composition, geometric characteristics (including plate size and rib structure),
flow configuration within the media layers, flow dynamics in plate arrays, and
additional structural elements. Specifically, geometric characteristics and flow
dynamics significantly impact the plate's heat exchange capability. The structure
and geometric dimensions of the rib array on the plate are considered shape
elements. The tendon row angle (θ) and the tendon apex angle (γ) are the two
primary parameters that define each tendon row. The impact of the rib top angle
on the heat exchange coefficient of a cooler is analyzed in this article through
simulation using the Ansys Fluent software.
