GEOLINGUISTICS AND DIALECTOLOGY AND DIALECT MAPS: CONCEPTS, HISTORY AND CURRENT ISSUES

Abstract

The paper analyzes some issues related to Geolinguistics, Dialectology and
Dialect Maps. The mentioned contents are the understanding of researchers on
the two concepts of Geolinguistics and Dialectology, briefly outline the history of
Geolinguistics and Dialectology in the world and in Vietnam in an effort to carry
out the task of drawing dialect maps. Thereby, the paper suggests the tasks of
Vietnamese Dialectology in the present and the future.
