IMPACT OF ORGANIZATIONAL DEMOCRACY AND COMMITMENT ON FACULTY RETENTION OF UNIVERSITIES IN VIETNAM

Abstract

Currently, universities in Vietnam are increasing the attraction of good lecturers, at the same time,
universities need to perfect their organizational models and policies to retain good lecturers. The purpose
of this study is to analyze the impact of democracy perception and the commitment of teaching staff in
universities in Vietnam on the successful retention of good lecturers. The sample of the study includes 239
lecturers working at universities in Vietnam, by means of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and linear
regression by means of least squares (OLS). The results of the study shows that organizational commitment
and democracy have a positive and statistically significant impact on faculty retention. On the basis of
empirical analysis, combined with qualitative analysis, the article has made some recommendations with
governance implications for managers and policy makers.
