Abstract

The reduplicative words in Ho Xuan Huong’s Nom poetry are not only
artistic tools for describing landscapes or emotions, but also a means for her
to express her respect for folk culture. She skillfully employed reduplication to
create vivid, evocative, and highly expressive images, helping to clearly
convey ideas while also adding emotional resonance and depth to each verse.
In this paper, the author examines the artistic use of reduplicative words in
her poetry from a linguistic perspective. Through reduplication, images of
nature, life, people, as well as thoughts and emotions, become more intimate,
authentic, and soulful. This clever combination gives her poetry a captivating
quality, offering readers vivid and profound impressions. Through this, we
gain a deeper understanding of her talent and her heartfelt dedication to
humanity and life.
