CONCEPTUAL METAPHOR RESEARCH IN VIETNAM: UNEXPLORED GAPS

Abstract

The article highlights the research gaps in the field of conceptual
metaphor in Vietnam, a critical domain in cognitive linguistics. The author
notes the following gaps: the relationship between conceptual metaphor and
motivation in idiomatic expressions, the interaction between metonymy and
conceptual metaphor, classification of conceptual metaphors, blending
theory, image schemas as the embodied basis of metaphor, and conceptual
metaphor in literature.
