Basically, Nguyen Huy Thiep’s works on historical topics share many similarities with the general artistic conception in the first half of the 20^th century. At the same time, his outlook was improved, renovated, and modernised. His literary works focus on exploring and reflecting the people’s life, the nation’s destiny, and burning issues of the day. They have been highly appreciated by readers, republished many times, and translated into many languages
