Religion and State Relationships in Europe
Rik Torfs
Abstract
Although there is no true European model of religion and state relationships, the European dimension will become increasingly visible leading Europe to a creeping yet incomplete harmonisation of the various national systems. This common model shows a keen interest for far reaching religious freedom, mutual independence between religion and state combined with cooperation and state support.
