The Efficiency of Regrouping and Land Use Changes at the Households: Case Study in Cam Hoang Commune, Cam Giang District, Hai Duong Province

Abstract

This study was carried out in Cam Hoang commune, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province,  in
order to evaluate impacts of the regrouping of lands and the economic efficiency of land use changes
at the households. The results of investigation from over 200 households and local leaders show that:
after over 5 years implementing program of land regrouping the number of plots per household was
reduced from 6.11 to 2.23. Together with the change in land use, the scale of livestock and fish
production at households has been increased (the number of sows was increased 2 - 2.5 times; 3 - 5
times for fattening pig; 3.6 times for poultry and the area of fishpond increased 1.4 - 2.6 times). And as
a result, the households' income with land use changes was also considerably increased in
comparison with the households without land use changes.
