Main Socio-economic Solutions for Developing Craft Villages in Thai Binh Province

Abstract

Being an agricultural based province, Thaibinh has faced with the problem of small agricultural
land area per capita. Developing craft villages and enhancing comparative capacity of craft products
will contribute to create jobs for rural labors and develop market for traditional commodities. They will
increase income, living standard of the local people and also narrow down the disparity. Many products
of the craft villages have satisfied and met the demand of domestic and oversea customers. However,
in order to sustainable develop craft villages and enhance comparative capacity of the products, it is
necessary to consider systematic and comprehensive socioeconomic solutions such as: applying
appropriate and various training methods to meet requirement of high quality human resource for craft
companies, villages; Market demand researching and focusing on several craft industries which have
comparative opportunities and high value such as silver carving, embroider, sedge mat bamboo and
rattan, etc, ...
