Reproductive Performance of F1 (Yorkshire x Mong Cai) Sows Crossbred with Duroc, Landrace and PiDu Boars

Abstract

A study was carried out at 3 pig farms in three provinces (Hai Duong, Hung Yen and Bac Ninh) from June 2006 to March 2008 in order to evaluate reproductive performance of F1 (Yorkshire x Mong Cai) sows crossbred with Duroc, Landrace and PiDu boars. Results showed that litter size at birth, at weaning were high for D×F1(Y×MC) and L×F1(Y×MC). The body weight of piglets at weaning was highest for L×F1(Y×MC) being 6.31kg; lowest for D×1(Y×MC) being 6 kg. There was no significant difference in FCR among the crossing formulae.
