Effect of shading and number of plant per hill on growth of Chinese celery in off - season planting

Abstract

Chinese celery or water dropwort (Oenanthe stolonifera Wall.) grows well in cool season (November to April) in the North of Vietnam. The present research showed that water dropworts could be planted in off-season (May to September) when high temperature and high sun light intensity prevail. Shading of  0, 25,  50 and 75% light intensity in off-season indicated that water dropworts gave highest yield (16.5 ton/ha) by reducing solar irradiation by 25% using black net. Planting a single plant per hill under full sun light resulted in highest performance (47.1 g/cluster and 20.9 ton/ha)
