The agents’ economic efficiency in Thanh Ha litchi commodity chain

Abstract

Continued from result of agents' activities in litchi commodity chain in Thanh Ha district, this study aims to assess agents' economic efficiency. The result has shown that, actor economic efficiency in litchi commodity chain in Thanh Ha much depend on fresh litchi's output and price. In a good harvest, the producer's economic efficiency has obtained higher than those of producer & dryer and contrariwise. The collector and the collector & dryer are not only depended on fresh litchi's productivity and price but also on collected litchi volume. The larger quantity of litchi collected, the higher economic efficiency they receive and vice versa. The enterprises' economic efficiency has achieved much higher than others. It has created a new prospect for exporting canned litchi in the future. However, there are some problems for this agent such as lack of market information, packaging and quality of product has not yet meet consumer requirement, etc.

      Result on evaluation of economic efficiency per one unit intermediate cost showed that the producer has obtained the highest economic efficiency in the good harvest, but this position has turned into the producer & dryer in the bad harvest. However, the collector has achieved highest value added and profit per one unit labor cost in a good harvest and the position shifts to producer in the bad harvest.
