The identification of verotoxigenic E.coli (VTEC) bacteria in food is essential to limit their ability to cause disease through foods of animal origin. The process of identifying VTEC bacteria in meat using PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) wwas applied in this study. The prevalence of VTEC isolated from 75 meat samples taken from markets and 30 samples from slaughterhouses in Hanoi area was 31% and 10%, respectively. Isolates determined belonged to a number of serogroups which can cause
