Mercury Concentrations of Popularly Consumed Seafoods in Nha Trang

Abstract

The aim of this study was to provide valuable information for exposure evaluation and risk assessment of Nhatrang consumers to mercury contaminantion due to shellfish consumption. Mercury contamination levels were investigated from May 2008 to January 2009 in some seafoods popularly consumed by Inductively Coupled Plasma- Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). Results showed that mercury levels in the seafoods popularly consumed in the local markets in Nhatrang were 0.02¸0.087 mg/kg, which were within the maximum limits of the current regulations of Vietnam,
European community and Codex.
