The Effect of Nutrients on the Growth and Development of the Dendrobium nobile Lindl.

Abstract

Dendrobium nobile Lindl. is not only an important ornamental but also a pharmaceutical source which, at the present, is overexploited. A study on the effect of nutrients on the growth and development of this orchid was carried out. Four types of nutrients in the commercial brand forms, viz. Antonik, Yogen, Growmore and Đầu trâu were tested at three growth stages (i.e. plant sizes of 13 to < 13,5 cm, 17 cm to < 17.5 cm and 25 cm to < 26 cm) in a randomized complete block design with 3 replications. The results showed that Yogen and Antonik at concentration of 2ml/l seemed to be effective in increasing the plant height and acceleration of leaf number all stages of this orchid.
