Abstract

The study was conducted to improve the efficiency of controlling bacterial wilt (Ralstonia solanacearum Smith), a common disease of potato. The disease was investigated, and the samples were collected and identified. The control measures were performed on cultivars Nicola, KT2 and KT3 at Hanoi and surrounding areas in 2008 and 2009 winter cropping seasons. The results showed that the bacterial isolates collected from different cultivars in different regions were all pathogenic. The bio-product originated from antagonistic Bacillus subtilis used in combination with chemicals was
shown to have high efficiency in controlling the disease. This product can be used to treat soil before planting. Chemicals and antibiotics were also shown to inhibit the disease. Of the chemicals and antibiotics, Lobo 8WP 0.15% had highest efficacy, followed by Streptomycin 28 days after treatment.
