Some Studies on a Clamping - Uprooting Unit of Cassava Harvesting Machines

Abstract

A clamping - uprooting unit of cassava harvesting machine was used to separate cassava tubers from soil mass and convey to containers. Applications of the clamping - uprooting unit reduced manual labor and increased harvesting productivitywithout affecting to cassava tubers quality. To design the clamping - uprooting unit,three mathematical problems were solved: defining geometric data (L, α) of the clamping unit to separate cassava tubers from soil mass and set containers with certain size, kinetics problem (direction of speed ofthe clamping unit was perpendicular to ground) and dynamics problem (defining necessary power)
