Abstract
An experiment was conducted to determine effects of 3 different planting densities (30 x 30 cm, 30 x 40 cm, 40 x 40 cm) and 4 levels of nitrogen (N) fertilizer as urea application (0 kg, 50 kg, 100 kg and 150 kg N/ha/cutting time) on yield and quality ofsetaria grass, which should be used a guidelines for setaria grass growing procedure. Results showedthat N level significantly affected fresh matter yield of setaria grass (P<0.001), although the differences between planting densities were found not significant (P>0.05). Setaria grass in the trial gavethe highest efficiency with application of 50kgN/ha/cut. N application could also improve nutritional quality of setaria grass, especially it could enhance the content of crude protein. It was therefore recommended to plant setaria grass with a density of 30 x 30 cm or 30 x 40 cm with a urea application of 50 kg N/ha/cut
