Study on Micropropagation of Cyperus tagetiformis Lam

Abstract

This study was caried out to establish a protocol for rapid propagation of  Cyperus tagetiformis Lam using under ground stems with dormant buds. The optimal sterilization time was 15 minutes in Ca(OCl)25%, resulting in 100% survival and plant regeneration. The most suitable medium to initiate culture from explants was MS medium added with 1.5 mg/l BA plus + 30 g/l sugar. The highest shoot induction rate was highest on MS medium with addition of 1.5 mg/l Ki and 0.5 mg/l α-NAA. On the other hand, root induction was highest on MS medium containing 1 mg/l of activated charcoal
