Abstract

This paper discusses concepts, features and issues of improving capacity for competitiveness of the fruit-vegetable sector as well as points out some lessons learnt from different countries in improving capacity for this sector. Improving competitiveness of fruit-vegetable sector is a comprehensive process by improving competitiveness in private sector and renovating public services to ensure a sustainable development. Rational planning based on competitiveness advantages, increasing technological capacity, product diversification, renovation in state management, strengthening public investment in infrastructure, improvement of public services, supports economics actors in improving marketing capacity, development of suitable organizational mechanism, providing financial supports and enhancing human resource are primary lessons learned from different countries to improve competitiveness capacity of the vegetable and fruit sector.
