Abstract

A research on the development of  Black brown aphid (Toxoptera aurantii), an important pest of citrus trees on Black bean (Vigna unguiculata) was conducted from July 6-12, 2010 in Chuong My, Ha Noi. Results showed that the black brown aphid T. aurantiireared on young black bean leaf at three temperature regimes, 20oC, 25oC and 30oC had relatively short life cycle (7.83 to 8.83 days) and longevity (15.93 to 16.80 days). The life cycle and longevity of black brown aphid was longest when reared at 25oC. Rearing on the black bean plants, black brown aphid T. aurantiigrew faster than A. citricolaon the same host. At flowering and pod filling stage, the number of T. aurantiiwas three times (300%) higher than with was 316.67 individuals per pot.
