Abstract

YscW is a small lipoprotein located in the outer membrane of food-borne pathogen Yersinia enterocolitica. It is hypothesized that YscW plays a vital role in the improvement of virulence factors (Yop) secretion by Y.enterocolitica. The role of YscW was thus investigated in the present study by construction of a yscW deletion mutant and its ability to secrete Yops was subsequently evaluated. In this study, yscW deletion gene (ΔyscW) was successfully constructed. Y. enterocolitica mutants expressed nearly no Yop secretion. These results indicated that YscW might be required for the Yop secretion by Y. enterocolitica.
